Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain scored as Serie A leaders Juventus beat fourth-placed Lazio 2-0 on Sunday.
Dybala notched his fifth league goal of the season, and his third in four games in all competitions, five minutes into the contest with a fine left-footed effort from the edge of the box.
And Higuain added his 14th of the campaign 11 minutes later, converting a Juan Cuadrado cross from close range.
That proved enough to clinch all three points for the Bianconeri, whose head coach Massimiliano Allegri was making his 300th bow as a Serie A boss, as they moved on from last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Fiorentina.
Roma later made hard work of keeping up the pressure on the table-toppers as they squeezed past Cagliari 1-0 in the capital thanks to an Edin Dzeko goal.
The Bosnian’s 55th-minute strike ensured the Giallorossi remain within a point of Juve, who have a game in hand, while Joao Pedro was sent off for Cagliari.
