PSV Eindhoven closed on the Eredivisie leaders with a 3-1 win over ADO Den Haag at Philips Stadion.
Gaston Pereiro put the hosts ahead from the spot on 12 minutes.
PSV captain Luuk de Jong, who had been on the bench for the midweek Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid, flicked in a near-post header five minutes into the second half, which took a deflection off Den Haag centre-back Tom Beugelsdijk.
And De Jong added a third on 55 minutes after being played into the right side of the penalty area.
Beugelsdijk reduced the arrears from the spot in the 57th minute, but PSV closed out victory to move within a point of Ajax and three of Feyenoord, who both play on Sunday.
Groningen romped to a 4-0 win at PEC Zwolle.
